#FearlessFridays: Sara Mora
We’re honoring Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15-Oct. 15) by featuring a member of Latinx community. Next up: activist Sara Mora! Mora immigrated to the U.S. illegally with her parents from Costa Rica when she was 3 years old. At 16, she joined the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and when the federal government cancelled DACA in 2017, the then 19-year-old began making her mark using digital activism to draw attention to the plight of undocumented immigrants. In 2018, Mora was featured in Teen Vogue's voter registration campaign and she was elected co-president of the Women’s March youth branch, overseeing 200-plus chapters across the country and providing mentorship to youth looking to further their activism and civic engagement.
Actress Rita Moreno has spent her entire career fighting for Latinx representation in both film and television.
