In 2012

In 2012, Carolyn Noe started a small Meetup group with the simple idea of connecting to other nerdy women in St. Louis. The early meetups were fun and informal, and the idea of Super Heroines, Etc. was born: bringing superheroines together to use their powers for good.

Today, Super Heroines, Etc. is a joyful and inclusive non-profit organization that uses the power of fandom to fight for equity and representation. We gather superheroines in safe environments for empowering events, fostering educational opportunities, and inspiring creative change in their communities. As activists, we attend local, regional, and national conventions to discuss representation in the media and provide tools and support for Super Heroines Etc. to be agents of positive change.

NERDY JOY

We’re a community where all forms of nerdiness are celebrated as shared passions. We encourage diverse interests and believe in the power of inclusivity to enrich our nerdy culture.

SOCIAL JUSTICE & ANTI-OPPRESSION

We actively oppose systemic exclusion and oppression. Our work is guided by an intersectional lens, advocating for the dignified representation of all identities and dismantling oppressive structures.

ACTIVISM

We champion collective action for liberation and use our platform to foster awareness and drive social change. We see ourselves as co-conspirators, leveraging privilege to quest for justice.

EDUCATION

We dive deep into a broad range of subjects and explore unfamiliar topics. We share our interests collaboratively, recognizing education as a powerful tool for empowering marginalized communities.
