Help us help the real-life heroines of Lydia's House

Super Heroines, Etc. loves Lydia's House. In the early days of SHE, our members expressed an interest in serving the community through volunteering, and that led to a Saturday morning outing to help with cleaning and organizing one of Lydia House's locations. We've done a few of these outings over the years, and it's easy to understand why SHE members feel strongly about helping this organization. Lydia's House supports women (and their children) who are fleeing domestic violence. They do this by providing affordable transitional housing and by helping women get the education, training anlydia1d employment they need in order to be self-sufficient. The organization also has a speaker's bureau and outreach arm dedicated to domestic violence awareness. We'll be returning to Lydia's House to volunteer on Saturday, March 25. Please join us if you can (click here to go to the sign-up page). We are also collecting some of the items on their wish list, and if you attend the March 25 event with a wish-list donation, you'll receive a discount on the admission to SHE's Boundaries Workshop from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, April 23. Participants at the workshop will learn the tools and skills to set healthy boundaries, empower their lives and improve their interactions with others, whether it's a friendship, a romantic relationship or even an encounter with someone we don't know.If you can't join us on the 25th, you still can help. If you attend a SHE event between now and March 23, you can give your donation to the event host, and we'll take it with us on the 25th. You'll still receive discounted admission to SHE's boundary workshop in April. The most-needed items on Lydia House's wish list include:

  • Twin sheet sets, new
  • Laundry detergent
  • Pine-Sol
  • Paper towels
  • Diapers (sizes 4 and 5)
  • Pull-ups (all sizes)
  • Women's toiletries (but NO tampons)
  • Gift cards to Home Depot and Lowe's

Thank you in advance for your help!
