To the surprise of no one, the new Wonder Woman movie is topping the box office week after week. The super heroines in Cincinnati were so excited about the movie that they began work on a collaborative zine project the day the movie was released! Now, they’re opening up the collaboration to anyone interested in submitting a page (or two or three).

What is a collaborative zine?

It’s sort of a phrase we made up, though we’re sure someone else has used it before. Essentially, it’s working on a zine with a variety of people. Some zines already do this. But what is a zine? According to Merriam-Webster, a zine is “a noncommercial often homemade or online publication usually devoted to specialized and often unconventional subject matter.” Think of it as a homemade magazine.

What is the theme of this zine?

Since the new movie takes place during WWI, the zine considers how Wonder Woman would have been covered by the media during the Great War. We’ve provided some resources about women during WWI for your reference:

Topics you might want to consider are women’s suffrage, women on the homefront (growing vegetables, working in factories), and women in the military.

What should I submit?

If you like writing, drawing or generally being creative, submit your own fan work – poems, fanfiction, fan art, etc. We would love to see original content! Maybe even consider submitting a coloring book page. If you don’t know where to start, download one of our templates to use:
